Alexander, Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday

A young boy named Alexander gets $1.00 as a gift from his grandparents. Alexander goes on a spending spree and within a week is no longer "rich". Although the idea that $1 would make an elementary grade student feel wealthy makes the book seem a little old-fashioned, basic concepts in economics and mathematics are covered clearly and with gentle humor.
