Rethinking Columbus: The Next 500 Years

This book is a comprehensive teacher resource on the "discovery" of the Americas and Christopher Columbus's role in that event. It includes background information on the topic as well as more than 80 related essays, poems, short stories, interviews, historical vignettes, and song lyrics that can be used to re-evaluate the legacy of Columbus. These include specific teaching suggestions or serve as a basis for lesson plans for students in elementary school through high school. Handouts for some lessons are also included.
