Description This picture book tells the story of Ruby Bridges, who, when she was six years old, was the only African-American student to attend a previously all-white school in New Orleans in 1960. Every day for months she had to walk past angry crowds of adults protesting her presence. This book tells the story of Bridges's first year at this school.
